Years ago, I was taking some college classes and got to talking to a history teacher about music- I was just starting to get into Bob Dylan and had just started to write some songs. The next week, the teacher gave me 3 burned CD’s; Neil Young (with Crazy Horse) ‘Zuma’ , A ‘Greatest Hits’ of The Band , and Bob Dylan’s live ‘Hard Rain’… my mind was BLOWN…I thought ‘This! This is what I am after! This is the type of music I want to create!” (A lofty thought I admit.)…but, I worked hard and a few years later I recorded my first 5 song Album, 1400 Piedmont, in Nashville Tennessee with the wonderful Ryan Truso. It is a very high quality project that I am so proud of! But, after recording, the songs just ‘sat’…I didn’t do anything with them. I played a few local shows with some friends… and more time passed…I wrote some new songs…and went and recorded a second 5 song album., East,West, at the wonderful Standard Electric Recording Studio in Atlanta Georgia. MORE time passed…and then, about a year ago, I finally started getting serious about songwriting again and decided to take another stab at this music ‘thing’. The Great Lands were born; The Great Lands is my musical vehicle for my songs…I truly hope you enjoy it!

How would I describe the music? Americana roots rock n roll…a little southern tinged. (I am based out of Atlanta, Georgia) My favorite thing in the world is when a songwriter has a ‘band’ backing them…that is what I am after, thoughtful lyrics with as much time put into the arrangement and structure of the song as the melody and all other wonderful things. Sure, I love Tom Petty just playing a guitar, but man, when the Heartbreakers kick in, it’s just magical. That is what I am striving for…
